UrbanBuild | Team

It takes a lot of people to make the magic happen at URBANbuild. The team grows throughout the design and build semesters, expanding from a core group of students and directors to include a contractor, sub-contractors, material suppliers and nonprofit partner team members, to name a few. The sections below acknowledge the many individuals and organizations who ensure the program’s success.

PROGRAM DIRECTORS

URBANbuild’s directors operate as expert project coordinators and people wranglers. A faculty member serves as the primary program director and architect of record. In the spring, the assistant director of construction joins to guide 15 architecture students for 50-60 hours a week.

Faculty + Staff

Tulane School of Architecture faculty and staff have contributed in many ways throughout the program’s existence. Their behind-the-scenes work is crucial in supporting the efforts of students and program directors.

Alumni

More than 300 alumni have experienced the responsibilities of the architecture profession, both culturally and physically, through URBANbuild. Many are now pursuing exciting ventures, and we enjoy hearing back from them.

Collaborators

A number of local entities, from community development corporations to licensed electricians, work with URBANbuild each year. Many of these collaborators have been with the program since its inception. We are thankful for their dedication and ongoing support.

Vendors

During the project build, students realize progress is highly dependent on supplies arriving as scheduled. URBANbuild’s vendors are always willing to go above and beyond and are an integral part of the program.
